Wickes store is still on the cards

DIY GIANT Wickes is planning to open a new store on Southport Road, it has been confirmed.
Although a spokeswoman for the firm told the Visiter in March they had “no plans” to site a store there, its senior property acquisition manager Andrew Brodie has reaffirmed the company’s interest in the land with West Lancs Council.

SOUTHPORT District Scouts and Cubs are inviting former members to join them in a global celebration of 100 years of Scouting.
‘Scouting Sunrise’ will be a worldwide remembrance of the movement, exactly 100 years to the minute Robert Baden-Powell commenced the first ever camp.

A team believed to be from the Forestry Commission was at the wasteland yesterday afternoon, carrying out preliminary environmental tests on the earth.
