      Last night saw the final league games in the crosby snooker league division two and in the Handicap league also here are the results that I have had sent S.S.P.C B won merit league 98 points Rileys A 2nd on 97 points these trwo where 4 points clear of the rest ( full details later)
In the Merit league Rileys A in division two won and Lathom had good win over rivals Star Sea A to grab 2nd place these two being 6 points and more clear
Divsion one champions were Rileys 126 points with Crosby Cons |B 2nd 113 points in merit league
In division one Handicap league Star Sea won on 156 2nd where Crosby Cons E on 154 who pipped Crosby Cons B by one point 153.
Highest breaks in division one was 64 by P.McCormick (rileys) D talent made top break in competitions with 65 in last cup match played and in Division two P.Farrington (C.M.S A) had a 57 that wins division two high break

With only 3 cup matches left to run the league will finish as soon as these are played by 8th May 2008.
Next Season starts up again in the first week in september and both Divisions are looking for more teams that wish to join the Crosby Snooker League in Division One played on a Friday and Division Two played on Monday nights.We have teams from crosby ,seaforth, and bootle playing in our league so if you live in the surrounding area,s why not give us a try contact dave foxcroft on 07849555934 or 281 2281 email dave foxy46 @hotmail.co.uk
      I am trying to see what can be done about the foul and a miss rule .this rule was brought in to ensure that a player snookered played to the best of his or her abliity to hit the ball on. however I believe that it has now been taken to far.The professionals may be good enough to get out of seamingly impossible snook but what about the grass route players and especially those who are just not good enough or are beginners. in some games I have seen 28 and more points being given where players have not been able to get out of a snooker.in the normal run of the game 7 points was the maximum you could give on a foul. Ok we can&apos;t play with out this rule but we can use common sense and bring in a fairer method of points and a maximum of points given lets say no more than 3 attempts when snookered thats 12 points if you don&apos;t hit any higher valued balls in your attempt to get out of a snooker. I see a lot of points being given against division two players when playing the better division one players because of the skill factor and its no good saying the referee should judge the ability of the players because he then has to play with two different sets of ruling and that will always cause trouble I hope the persons that made this terrible rule can now sort it out and bring back sanity to the game. And the other point is in my league we have fewer referee&apos;s because nobody wants to be a referee because of the problems that this rule has brought about, any body got any good idea&apos;s on a fairer way to use this rule

      We have enjoyed two major events this month. The first was our annual &apos;Three Clubs Meeting&apos; on April 16th. This year it was Southport Soroptimists turn to host the event for our sister clubs in Bootle and Crosby. We decided to hold a Murder Mystery Evening at The Waterside Lodge by The Marine Lake. Several Southport Soroptimists took to the stage to perform a short play called &apos;All Afloat&apos; set in the 1920&apos;s on board a liner leaving Liverpool destination New York.
The play described as a &apos;tale of spurned love and cowardice&apos; took our audience on an exciting voyage as they tried to guess the identity of the murderer and how the dastardly deed had been carried out. Cast and audience then enjoyed a superb buffet meal after which characters were cross questioned in a bid to solve the mystery. A prize was then awarded to the winning table of super sleuths who just happened to belong to SI Southport!
      Our second major event was our 76th Charter Year Luncheon. This was held on April 27th at Formby Hall Golf Club and Spa. Here over 140 Soroptimists and guests were welcomed by President Christine Rostron. The Civic Welcome was then given by The Mayor of Sefton Councillor Richard Hands and the Objects of Soroptimism were read by Mrs Arlene Allen. After grace read by Miss Jean Lee we all enjoyed a three couse lunch followed by coffee and mints.
The meal was followed by The Loyal Toast proposed by Mrs Christine Rostron and the toast to the Guests was proposed by Mrs Gillian Brennan, President SI Liverpool. Lord Fearn then proposed the toast to &apos;Soroptimist International&apos; and this was responded to by Miss Valerie Moss, President SI South Lancashire.
The guest speaker, Mrs Judith Merry then gave a very enlightening and amusing talk on her work as a broadcaster, producer and writer. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Carol Cookson. It only remained then for retiring President Christine to install the new President Mrs Margaret Davies. Margaret responded and then gave Christine her &apos;Past President&apos;s Badge.
The afternoon was a great success and everyone was disappointed when it was time to go home!

   <content type="html" xml:lang="en" xml:base="http://www.southportcommunities.co.uk/">
      Active Sefton have recently introduced a new addition to the Active Sefton Referral Programme known as ‘The Active Sefton Ambassador Scheme’, a volunteer programme which involves clients who have successfully completed and experienced the Referral Programme providing extra support to those currently on or about to begin the journey.

With all centres now participating including Dunes Leisure Centre, Litherland Sports Park, Netherton Activity Centre and Bootle Leisure Centre, we anticipate that this new initiative will provide Active Sefton patients with the additional social support, motivation and encouragement to enable them to reach their full potential and succeed on the programme. With Ambassadors being shining examples of what patients can achieve, it is thought that by sharing their experiences and demonstrating the benefits of physical activity, patients are more likely to feel that they have somebody who they can relate to, and as a result will want to commit to reap the same rewards. Also, as the Ambassadors are volunteering in their local centre during our Active Sefton sessions, it gives a real sense of community cohesion, with local residents getting involved to help improve the health and well being of their community.
Gina Lewis, Support Officer for the Active Sefton Referral Team said: ‘There has been a real difference to the Active Sefton sessions since the introduction of the Ambassadors. As they have experienced ill-health in the past and are showing vast improvements due to the benefits of physical activity, they are a real inspiration to those patients just beginning on the programme’

As the demand for the Referral Programme and the popularity of the group activity sessions continue to grow, we will be encouraging more volunteers to come forward to join us in the development of a healthier community.

If you require any more information regarding the Active Sefton Referral Programme or the Active Ambassador Scheme, please contact the Active Sefton Team on 0151 934 2352.

      Early risers who use the gym at Litherland Sports Park are in for a treat from the end of March as the facility will open its doors on Mondays and Fridays at 7am.
The fantastic state of the art facility has become tremendously popular over the last year with hundreds of members signing up and from Monday 31st March there will be no need to wait until after work for your workout as Litherland will commence the ‘Early Bird’ sessions.

Senior Operations Manager, Mike Woodruff stated, &quot;More and more people are keen to have a workout early in the morning, setting them up for the day and we at Litherland are always looking to meet customers demands&quot;

Thanks to a vote amongst the users of the gym at Litherland, the most popular days of Monday and Friday have been chosen. And this may only be the beginning as Lynn Atkinson, Fitness Manager at Litherland explains, &quot;We are confident that our Early Bird sessions will prove very popular and if this proves the case, we will look to add more sessions in the future&quot;

For more information on the Active Sefton Fitness Suite contact Litherland Sports Park on 0151 288 6288.
