Information about the Choir
The Southport Lyric Singers is a mixed voice choir (SATB) of about 30 singers plus conductor and two accompanists. We are non-political and non-sectarian and the object is to study and practise music in order to foster public knowledge and appreciation by means of public performance and assist and support charitable institutions.
Repertoire
Our repertoire is extremely varied and includes the music of Lehar, Strauss, Lionel Monckton, Romberg, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lloyd Webber to name but a few. We perform selections from the Black and White Minstrels, Les Miserables, Oliver, as well as traditional songs, folk songs and anthems.
Performances
We give 2/3 evening performances annually, usually in support of a local charity, and also several afternoon concerts at various clubs and homes in the area. We are always very busy at Christmas, giving about 3 evening and 4 afternoon concerts.
