Autumn News.

Posted by Soroptimist International Southport on November 7, 2008 10:04 AM

The last few months have seen us involved in many fund raising and social activities. On September 6th we held an enjoyable and interesting PAC Lunch at The Scarisbrick Hotel. This was a joint venture with our sister club SI Bootle and our Speaker was Hilary Ratcliffe who is our Federal Programme Director. She explained exciting changes were taking place in Programme Action and we must all welcome positive change in our organisation.
The Club was also delighted to hear that Jean Lee had received her award for service in the Timber Corps in World War 2. This award designed by the Garter King of Arms gives timely recognition to her courageous contribution to the 'war efort' in those troubled times.
October 6th also saw us enjoying 'Friendship Night'. On this evening we light candles to our link clubs around the world then , of course, we have a delicious meal and chat!
Several of our members are also currently at International Conference in Barbados after which some of them were going on a cruise - lucky people!
Our next charity event is our Coffee Morning on November 29th and we hope to raise a significant amount for the homeless in Southport. Entry is £1 but this includes coffee and biscuits. There will also be several stalls, raffles and competitions happening.
We have also been busy exercising our 'talents'. President Margaret Davies gave us all £5 to 'grow' - but more about that in my next bulletin.
