The New Season is about to begin!

Posted by on September 15, 2008 4:39 PM

Now that the English Cricket Season is over, cricket lovers in the area can still get a 'fix' at the West Lancashire Cricket Society.

During the winter months the society meets monthly on the third Wednesday evening at Southport and Birkdale Sports Club, Trafalgar Road, Birkdale, Southport. Meetings start at 8.00 pm. Membership subscriptions for the season are £15.00 for a single person and £25.00 for a couple. Non-members and guests are also welcome at meetings at a cost of £5.00 per person per evening.

The new season will be starting on Wednesday evening 15 October 2008 at the Southport and Birkdale Sports Club. The evening will commence at 8.00 pm when our first speaker will be Nigel Stockhill (the former fitness coach and dietician to the English team).

To whet your appetite, future speakers include Alan Oakman (former England Test batsman and player for Sussex CCC), Kevin Sharpe (batting coach at Yorkshire CCC), Mal Loye (player for Lancashire CCC), Tom Moffatt (past President of Durham CCC) and Paul Edwards. There should be some interesting tales to tell and there is always time for discussion and questions.

This is a friendly society and new members are very welcome so why not come along to the first meeting on
15 October. Contact 01704 513580 for any further information.

About us
We have been established since 1967, have over 40 members. we meet every Wednesday at the Dunes Splash Pool at 8pm, and then later at the Rookery Sports Club, Roe Lane, Southport.

We are a member of BSAC who are the governing body for Scuba diving.

New members are welcome at any time, and if anyone is interested in trying out scuba diving, they can come along for a try dive. This will give them a taster of what its like to breath under water.
We have 2 boats and we organise dive trips to all 4 corners of the country.
Members also dive all around the world.
It's a great club to be a member of.
