Over the summer months Southport Soroptimists have held two popular fund raising events. The first was a 'Chapeaux et Gateaux' lunch on the 24th July at the home of President Christine Rostron.Here Felicity of 'Felicity Hat Hire' gave an informative talk about her business and then we had a great time trying on several gorgeous hats! After tea and gateaux we also had the opportunity to purchase beautiful bags and silky scarves.
The second event on the 25th August was a 'mix and mingle' two course lunch, with wine, also held at the President's home.
The amount raised for both events is in the region of £670 which will go to the President's Charities.
So two very enjoyable events showing what Soroptimists like doing best - socialising, eating and ,of course, raising money for charity!
Our next major fund raising event is a 'Bollywood Extravaganza' Ball to be held at CHET on the 29th September.It promises to be an evening of tropical Indian splendour with a themed buffet, Indian entertainment and an Indian Bazaar.All proceeds from the evening are going to Crosby Hall Educational Trust to buy outdoor equipment for the children who attend the centre.
As well as local fund raising Soroptimists are also now pledged to raise money for our new International Project - Project SIerra.We will be working with the Charity 'Hope and Homes for Children' in one of the poorest areas in the world - Sierra Leone.More about this over the next few months.
