About us

The Lord Chancellor's Advisory Committees on Justices of the Peace for Merseyside deals with the recruitment of Magistrates.

The North Sefton Bench is currently seeking to recruit candidates to the magistracy.
The role of a magistrate is a voluntary role and anyone who can evidence the six key qualities set by the Lord Chancellor through two interviews can be considered.

You don't need legal experience or qualifications to be a magistrate - they come from every imaginable background.

You do need to be able to sit in court for a minimum of 26 half-days each year. Magistrates aren't paid, but many employers allow time off with pay, or you can claim a loss of earnings allowance. We welcome applications from all sectors of the community.

Posted by Administrator on September 20, 2007 10:22 AM

In October 2006 The Southport & Formby Primary Care Trust merged with the South Sefton Primary Care Trust and became the Sefton Primary Care Trust that we have today. This has resulted in a lot of changes made necessary by the duplication of staff within two PCT's.

The head of the diabetes care staff, Jackie Rooney, will be present at the next monthly meeting of the Diabetes UK, North Sefton Voluntary Support Group, formerly known as the Southport & Formby Support Group, on Thursday October 4th, 2007 at the Mornington Road Centre, opposite Southport College.

September Soroptimist News

Posted by Soroptimist International Southport on September 8, 2007 10:33 AM

Over the summer months Southport Soroptimists have held two popular fund raising events. The first was a 'Chapeaux et Gateaux' lunch on the 24th July at the home of President Christine Rostron. Here Felicity of 'Felicity Hat Hire' gave an informative talk about her business and then we had a great time trying on several gorgeous hats! After tea and gateaux we also had the opportunity to purchase beautiful bags and silky scarves.
The second event on the 25th August was a 'mix and mingle' two course lunch, with wine, also held at the President's home.
The amount raised for both events is in the region of £670 which will go to the President's Charities.
So two very enjoyable events showing what Soroptimists like doing best - socialising, eating and ,of course, raising money for charity!
