Last time I wrote Iasked if you knew the meaning of the word 'soroptimist'.It comes from two Latin words.Soror meaning sister and optima meaning best.So we interpret 'soroptimism' to mean 'the best of women'
Over the last month we have been busy raising funds for local and international charities.
Forthcoming events include:-
Chapeau et Gateaux - afternoon tea and Felicty's Hats - 24th July.
Luncheon for members and guests - August 25th.
International Convention in Glasgow - July 29th to August 2nd.
All monies raised will go to local women and children's charities.
We have also recently funded a replacement gate for the children's play area at Kew and donated to Water Aid.
The new International Charity is Project SIerra -Hope and Homes for Children.
Our next major fund raising event is the Bollywood Ball to be held at CHET in September......but more about that later.
Our President,Christine Rostron,has also attended :-
10th Anniversary of Crossroads Playbarn.
The Southport Rotary Inaugral Dinner.
Plus many other invitations from clubs in our region.
