Vitalising Venture for Trust’s Young Volunteers

Posted by The Prince's Trust on June 26, 2007 10:39 AM |

Young volunteers on twelve week Prince’s Trust personal development course Team ran by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service in Southport, have been making a different in their community by undertaking a project at Vitalise Sandpipers.

The project was to put up a fence to divide the path between the local marina and Sandpipers land to help prevent accidental trespassing and keep those gaining respite care at the centre safe and secure.

The Team chose the Vitalise project after meeting Recruitment and Project Manager Chris Ashcroft at the Volunteer’s Bureau who recommended the centre to the young people as a worthy cause to support. The Team planned the project developing hard skills in construction and landscaping, as well as soft skills such as leadership and how to organise.

Team Leaders Tony Canavan and Anna Doherty praised the Team for their efforts especially as much of the project was undertaken in difficult weather conditions. Mr. Canavan added “On behalf of the Team I would like to thank all the staff and residents at Vitalise for their warm welcome. I hope that the Team’s project will have a lasting and positive impact on the centre.”

Young unemployed 16 – 25 year olds who are interested in attending the twelve week Team programme can contact Anna or Tony at the Team base in Southport on 07837 655 627 to find out about future courses. Find out more about The Prince's Trust online at www.princes-trust.org.uk
