Nursery to mark centenary of 'Montessori' method

Posted by Digital Editor on May 18, 2007 5:43 PM |

A HIGH PARK nursery marks the 100th anniversary of the Montessori teaching method tomorrow.
Kinder World in Bispham Road uses the methods devised by Italian educator Dr Maria Montessori in 1907 as part of its teachings.

The principles recognise children as being different to adults and teach them accordingly, allowing them to choose their own activities and treating play as a child’s ‘job’.
At tomorrow’s open day, Kinder World’s Montessori trainer will explain how the teaching method works.
There will also be creative activities, a healthy meals demonstration and a crèche for a limited number of children.
Staff and children will also complete 100 Steps for Montessori at Hesketh Park on Sunday, July 1.
Kinder World will be open for the celebration between 10am and 12.30pm.
