Edwardian day planned

Posted by Digital Editor on May 18, 2007 5:40 PM |

A CARNIVAL feel will come to the streets of Ainsdale for the village’s sixth annual Edwardian Day next month.
The Southport Visiter is backing the event on Saturday, June 2, with one of the highlights being the parade setting off at noon from Ainsdale Hope High School.

A ‘themed dress’ competition is open to children under 12 who don clothing such as the bright colours of the Caribbean, with sponsorship provided by local firm Brough’s Butchers.
The first prize will be £80, with further cash prizes for the three runners-up.
Tony Brough, chairman of the event organisers, Ainsdale Civic Society, has predicted a day that will be “colourful, dynamic, noisy and fun”.
Edwardian Day 2007 kicks off at 10am, with a New Orleans-style jazz band, a barbecue by Brough’s and Ainsdale United Reform Church’s Annual Fete among the attractions.
